January 2012: Several community initiatives were supported by the team at Brown Schultz Sheridan & Fritz (BSSF) this holiday season.
In November, Erin Dinsmore, Staff Accountant, started the Firm's First Annual "Handbags & Heels" for Success accessory drive, which benefited Dress for Success South Central PA. Dozens of items were collected during the drive to benefit the local nonprofit. Additionally, the fourth annual Thanksgiving Food Drive was held to raise goods for the Central PA Food Bank. Donations from employees provided nearly 5,000 families with a nutritious meal that otherwise would not have been possible.
December was the month for a few different charitable projects. The first, donations for the Salvation Army Giving Tree program. Employees picked sixty-five children to pick presents for; in total the local chapter of the Salvation Army delivers 3,300 presents! Employees also worked with the Lancaster County Council of Churches to adopt 12 children from 6 different low income families, providing gifts for the holidays. For the fourth year, volunteers signed up for two shifts for the UCP Gift Wrap at the Capital City mall, raising nearly $200 in total for the nonprofit organization.
To wrap up the year, BSSF made its 4th annual donation to the Central PA Food Bank on behalf of employees, clients, and friends to replace the expenditure of holiday cards with a gift that benefited many families in the community. This donation allows the organization to provide $7,500 worth of food to people in need. Team members of BSSF are passionate about the holiday giving initiatives and other ways to serve the community throughout the year. Many employees donate personal time to local organizations, serve on boards and committees of nonprofits, and participate in local community events.
