New Online Tax System myPATH Launches in PA

New Online Tax System myPATH Launches in PA

On November 30, 2022, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue migrated e-TIDES to myPATH, which stands for “my Pennsylvania Tax Hub.” The Department of Revenue has been working on this new system since 2018 and it is a part of an ongoing tax system modernization project.

The new system is meant to serve as a one-stop shop for all Pennsylvania taxpayers, with myPATH being capable of handling all of a business’s registration, filings and payment obligations for PA state taxes. Previously, myPATH was being used by taxpayers to pay personal income taxes and to apply for property tax rebates. According to the Department of Revenue, myPATH will replace the need for e-TIDES and the Pennsylvania Online Business Entity Registration (PA-100), which was an online platform for businesses to register for state taxes.

Registering for myPATH

As part of the transition from e-TIDES to myPATH, the Department of Revenue is asking business taxpayers to register for a new account on myPATH. To sign up for an account, you will need the following information:

  • A unique email address that is not associated with any other myPATH profile
  • Primary phone number
  • Usernames must be a minimum of five characters (no special characters)
  • Passwords must be a minimum of eight characters and must contain at least one of the following:
  • Uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Numbers
  • Special characters

To gain access to a tax account, you will need the following items:

  • Valid ID number (SSN, FEIN, PATH ID or Revenue ID)
  • Any one of the following:
  • Payment amount on the specified tax type
  • Path Letter ID
  • Online Business Registration Confirmation Code

Transitioning from eTIDES to myPath

Once taxpayers create their myPath account, existing e-TIDES users will be presented with a link to migrate their existing access from e-TIDES. Customers will then have the option to enter their existing e-TIDES username and password to access their prior account information that was available in the old system. The last day e-TIDES will be available to view filing history is August 31, 2023.

Navigating myPATH for Taxpayers

The new tax system will assign every customer an 11-digit account ID. Each withholding account will be separated by the type of withholding tax and each account will have an accompanying annual reconciliation account. Additionally, each account will be associated with an 8-digit withholding ID and each license account will have a tax type and accompanying license account type.

Some benefits of myPATH are that it’s user friendly and designed to work on any device, such as a computer, cell phone or tablet, giving users the ability to access their accounts from almost anywhere. The system is available 24/7, has error-reducing automatic calculators, verification that all required information is included on your return before it is submitted and instant confirmation.

The Department of Revenue has several self-service options available through their website which includes:

  • myPATH information page
  • Revenue 411 videos that explain how to perform many functions through myPATH
  • Online customer service center which contains answers to hundreds of common tax questions and can be used to securely submit a question.
  • PATHfinder, the online chatbot, located on the top right corner of the myPATH page

Customers can also call the department by phone at 717-425-2495, ext. 72841 (PATH1). Agents in the call center are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
